Always love to see these, but I couldn't get any of them to load, I just get the loading screen & then it crashes. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

Yeah there's always a wonky loader to these. Try the 128K tape loader in SPIN, that works for me (edge loader or not speeded up at all). The first block fails, but the rest loads and the game starts.

Ok, I'll give that a "spin", I was using Fuse earlier (128k & 48k. versions). Was hoping to get them up & running on the Next & maybe do a stream later. Will investigate after lunch. 👍

:-) :-) I LOVE Bearsden Primary School! :-) :-) Kids are my favourite kind of people by far!

LOLing already just at the game titles… the fact that half of them are about "Timmy" (or "Tommy") has totally made my day!

Like Sloany, I can't get them to load either. Looking forward to playing them in due course. Especially "timmys adventure and the pyshco mummy" :dance

For some reason they all have the loading screen as a code block before the game, and then the whole game including loading screen after. It all depends how you have your emulator settings with autoloads and speedload etc.

One way that should work under any circumstance is if you type:

LOAD""SCREEN$:LOAD""

It will load the loading screen twice, but it should work nice.

If anyone can tell me how to type " in Fuse, that would be most appreciated!

Thanks! Got it working and I'm laughing my head off at these!

The kids have done such a great job, with so much imagination and personality on display. One thing I love about Speccy games is the world of weird, quirky homebrew titles - never quite knowing what you're going to get. In that respect, it really doesn't get better than this!

That generic 'bang' death noise gets funnier with time, especially combined with the randomness of what kills you!

Dying laughing at what must be the Spectrum's first ever Taylor Swift game, "Swift", which I think was inspired by "Squij" (If you've played it you'll know what I mean! The maker of "Timmy's Dessert" also seems to be Squij fans!

My favourite game overall has to be "Tommy the Gnome". Favourite graphic is the house in "Barbra Run". Favourite animation is Top Hat Timmy who doffs his hat as he walks!

It's just so gratifying to know that the Speccy is being used in some small way by kids of today. Even if they never touch the Spectrum again, years from now they will no doubt look back fondly on this exercise.

Though I must say, I do think the cane should be brought back in school for any child who makes a Speccy game with WASD controls!

Got a full playlist up here. All 13 games, launching in turn on the hour from 6am this morning. Took forever to put together :D

They're mostly in alpha-order, other than starting with the Taylor Swift one.

Oh so that's how you get past the first screen of "Swift"! I was trying to jump onto those words on the left! To be honest, everything about modern life is highly confusing to me. Kids making a Taylor Swift game, for the Spectrum… vinyl sales now out-selling CDs. I feel like reality is breaking down.

This was created by ten year olds?

Well done, not just taking part in something that's history to themselves but actually creating something new that's eminently playable at the same time. I do hope, as already mentioned, that they look back on this with some fondness. :D

I hear that. 40 years ago, an LP was around £4-5. And CDs were just around the corner. If you'd told me then that 40 years on, LPs would soar over CDs, AND they'd have big sales numbers whilst costing £30 and up, just because they're a bit heavier... I wouldn't believe you.

Give it another 10 years, 4K will fall by the wayside, and everyone will have DVD fever all over again :D

This graphic is so genius I think it needs to replace Eugene in Manic Miner and change the name to "Taylor Swift's Lair".

Reminds me of this girl

Hi all - I've made a few small edits that I wouldn't make in other threads on the forum. Can we keep everything in this thread 'U' classification please, in case the authors are reading.

Hahaha these are my favourite RZX recordings.

PeterJ is watching this thread like a hawk* because he knows we must never name kids. I will name one though, I do some tech work for one client who had an "art day" (they had all these cute kids come and make horrible paintings, it was total ZX colour clash), and um, later, (yesterday) I was asking director, "that's weird, why does this piece of art say MIRACLE on it, is this some kind of theological statement".

No apparently that's what we call our kids now. Nice painting, Miracle.
