Reviews for Thrill Time Gold 2 (#12175)

Review by YOR on 30 May 2022 (Rating: 3)

Time now for a look at the second Thrill Time Gold compilation from Elite. Same again, brief summary of the games included which I had already done prior to this followed by a final score and final summary,

Frank Bruno's Boxing 3
Based on Nintendo's boxing game Punch Out under the name of Frank Bruno. It's alright really but I had a hard time getting to grips with the controls. Barry McGuigan's Boxing game is much better than this.

Airwolf 2
This could have been special if the gameplay was more balanced and less awkward. Too frustrating for my interest.

Sabotuer! 4
Always been a fun game to play. The overall design is excellent and leaps and bounds ahead of the majority of games released around this time.

Scooby-Doo 3
Rather simple to play and get into and was quite enjoybale but the random appearances of the enemies is what spoils it for me.

Battle Ships 4
Always like this game, in fact I feel it may be one of the best Battleships games I've played on the Spectrum. It's simple and to the point, the pace is perfect, it's really good fun and may be even better playing with a friend.

Overall 3
Well the first compilation was better in my view. This does have good titles in Sabouteur and Battle Ships but then it also has Airwolf. The first Thrill Time Gold on the otherhand had Bomb Jack and Batty which are among the finest Speccy games around. Not all bad but stick with the first compilation
