Reviews for Motos (#3295)

Review by Raphie on 07 Feb 2009 (Rating: 4)

Motos always was a strange game in the arcades, so you can imagine the suprise when Mastertronic obtained the license to this rather odd arcade game.

The game is simple, just move your ship around a surface knocking all the enemies of the surface. To aid your progress to can collect a power-up to make your ship stronger and a jump icon to make your ship jump.

The game itself is true to the arcade version, odd but very playable and addictive. The multi-coloured levels stand out and music is excellent. Overall I very much enjoyed playing Motos, even if it is rather odd.

Addictive game where you play a ball trying to push objects of a board without falling down holes.

The gravity effects were good, the game was very playable and the 128K music was good too.

The game was quite fast and you could get a jump option too which meant you could jump over the aliens.

A very good game.

1987 Mastertronic Added Dimension (UK)

Your job is to clear all the invading Space Nasties in each screen by manoeuvring your ship around the base and bumping them off the play area into deep space while avoiding sufering a similar fate.

A good coin-up conversion with plenty of addictive action, and with lots of different screens to play.

Excellent conversion of an original Namco coin-op where you have to push your enemies off a platform floating in the air, but without hanging on too much, for a meteor shower will arrive and destroy the tiles, putting you at risk of falling off.

Different layouts, foes which become stronger and smarter, a strategy element consisting in deciding how many disposable power pills - which you collect during the game - you think are needed for push strength and/or jump length, nice graphics, good music and sound effects, plus a budget price earned this game a SU classic back in 1987.

Today, it is still immediately enjoyable and catchy as it was then.

Another brilliant game constantly overlooked for the best arcade conversion title. Simple and amusing gameplay combined with superb graphics and musical score. Excellent all round.
