1988 The Power House (UK)
by Simon Morris

The infamous Power House, of SQIJ fame, released some of the worst games you could release. Some are not so bad, only too outdated for the year of release.
Space Jack is like many, a mistake. It looks like an 1983 game, but plays like someone is stepping on the gas pedal hurrying looking for a toilet.
If only it played slower it could have been a bit better, and still I not too sure, 'cause I couldn't complete more than one minute of the game!

You're busy travelling to some planet in your tiny spacecraft while giant green monsters are busy smashing you into little pieces restlessly.

Simon Morris, who wrote one of Alpha-Omega's rare good games Oblivion in 1986, also wrote Space Jack two years later in 1988, and well, what happened? All the joy of Oblivion is gone and instead we have a virtually unplayable shooter with crap movement and crap shooting. Staying alive is pretty much impossible here. Oblivion exceeded Alpha-Omega's reputation by a long way, but in The Power House days there was no such thing, it was just make a game and make it as crap as possible and this certainly fits the bill.
