Reviews for Star Firebirds (#4821)

'Star Firebirds' is, as the name implies, another space shoot em-up with firebirds.
The game starts off well. I was very impressive with the movement of the enemy ships and the way they appear from afar giving a sense of perspective, something I only saw in 'Death Star Interceptor'.

But the novelty wears off rapidly because the waves are all the same (correct me if I'm wrong) and they only move faster and faster as you progress. So in the end this turns out to be just a scoring game, which doesn't excite me much.

Fire power is also too feeble for me, I would prefer continues fire and preferably with a more exciting sound.
However this is a very nice 'shmup', so try it out.

Check out the quotes on the Hi-Score table from Star Wars. A very fun touch.

A pretty decent shooter from 1985 .

Star Fierbirds is promising and inspiring and with the right level of difficulty .

Its plot and presentation are archetypal for the genre .

Sound leaves lots to be desired .

Nothing very special but still a fine intergalactic shooter . ;)

2,5 out of 5 .

Nice enough shooter and quite enjoyable but it seems to run at a horrible frame rate and move very slowly which rather spoils it a bit.

A wrist wrenching old style space shoot'em up with endless swarms of aliens.
Playable.

Surprisingly playable primitive shooter which suffers from slow down, lack of variety, indifferent collision detection and some hard to predict attacks from beneath you, yet nevertheless has a one-more-go factor many more polished games lack.
