Reviews for BraveStarr (#683)

It's an arcade/adventure, the arcade part being similar to a Rygar happening in a limited but bidirectional area, and it even looks and feels similar - only better - because probably the programmers are the same, I didn't check, but they're both Go! products. The "adventure" part is very simplistic but it's a nice addition.

This was a bit of an oddball cartoon that really did nothing to interest me. And naturally neither does this game for that matter.

This is better than I was expecting, it's an arcade meets adventure type game.
You play the TV cartoon character Brave Starr who is on a rescue mission.
The action happens quite fast both ways of the side scrolling screen, you either run, jump or fly on a futuristic device, altogether shooting any baddies who came your way. You have to negociate with any character that you meet along the way, so be sure to explore mines, caves, etc, that's where the adventure part of the game takes place.
In a way, this a Rygar meets Bugsy game, although neither of the parts is fully developed, which means it's neither a great action game nor a great adventure game. But all in all it provide good moments of playing fun.

This game never really sat well with me. It looks nice and the shooting elements are fun to a degree but it's just too bad noting else seems to be and it becomes bland and boring rather quickly. And I say the shooting elements are fun to a degree because there comes a point where too much happens at once and it's difficult to keep up. It ain't bad but I wish it could offer me more, like on paper it feels it should but it never did for me and it's a shame.
