Reviews for Cliff Hanger (#989)

It's a mildly fun game I suppose, just not very exciting. Gameplay involves standing in the right place and performing a particular action at the right game. It's not difficult but after playing the cannon level about 10 times in a row, it does get boring.

I have always liked mind-games and Cliff Hanger is one of a kind, really.

Simply put: there´s no other game in the world resembling this one.

The graphics are nice and the development of the different levels is quite amusing ... with some unusual and funny extra touches. ;-)

If only there were more games like Cliff Hanger this world would be a much better place !!!!

A faultless gem !!

4,5 stars .

This is one of those rares pearls that once I discover it I fall in love immediately.
If you like unusual, original games, with a twist of humour this is for you.

To me this game always looked like a Beep Beep and Willie E. Coyote adventure. And probably is, but in new clothes. Maybe New Generation didn't got hold of the Looney Tunes license and the characters were redesigned, but that's just me saying.

The only letdown at the time of its release was the bugs on the final levels that crashed the game.
Thankfully Mr. Anonymous fixed this so now it is possible to play it entirely on an emulator. And I finally managed to finished the game, after 2 and 1/2 decades!

This is one of the most intriging, interesting and amusing games I have ever played. Very original and very fun. It's always a blast playing.

An interesting idea but ultimately not very fun to play. There's not a lot to the gameplay, firing a cannon or pushing a boulder over a cliff for example, and repeating these tasks until you get the timing just right can be a bit of a chore.

Cliff Hanger is not the Speccy version of the Stallone movie, but it's a Road Runner kind of concept disguised as a Western game. Just as Wile E. Coyote, your goal is, for example, to roll a rock on a passing cow boy, which, of course, takes the role of Beep Beep the ostrich, and each level is a variation, and even a complication, on this gameplay. The mechanism is simple and repetitive, but, for this same reason, it can hook you for a while, in spite of the rudimentary graphics. It was a full price release that desperately needed to be cheaper, à la Mastetronics, in which case would have been a good buy, as it's not lacking in the playability department.

This 'cartoon-style action game' as it's defined itself, consists of 15 levels, between 3-5 random screens on each, in which you, standing on a cliff, must stop a bandit using one different object in every screen: stones, bombs, cannons, boomerangs, ... you must guess how to use them and hit the button in the very moment.

And that's the only problem of this cute game: you restrict yourself to press a key in a certain moment and watch the action. On the other side, the variety of objects to use gives it a funny touch.

Anyway, an original idea for a game that should have had better graphics.
